To the poster asking about how to find high page ranked, dofollow blogs, there are different ways you can find this but I use SEO Quake for such things as it shows PR for all sites.

If a commentator has exact knowledge of post,he will exactly participate in discussion and in return he will be awarded a link juice and that his shared knowledge can also be beneficial for user of whole community through searches made by the search engines.

I build my links through blog comments as well. I used to do normal blogs but my comments would no get approved. The reason I’m sure was probably because my name was nothing but my keywords. So now I’m searching for blogs that allow keywords so my comments can actually be approved.

Basically you got it – this would work if your link was appropriate to the page you are commenting on.
It was to a site that had nothing to do with the content of my page – most webmasters would just delete your comment for that.
Had you looked around on my site a little bit more you would have found the cartoon page which is much more on topic for your site.
If you had commented there and had shown a little bit more creativity in comment as why there was a need for a link in the comment instead of just using KeywordLuv, I would have left your URL in the comment.
But as you are new and now have a list of blogs, there is plenty of time to practice

You can try Fast blog finder, the link is in beneath the search form…
I had quite good results with it – others say it sucks, but I think at least the gold version is quite good. The free version only gives an idea of what it is capable of…

Thank you for all the great information you have supplied. It is one of the hardest tasks of the web master or seo company to build quality one way links.
As you quite rightly point out it is much easier to use blogs which are themed to your topic as then you are able to comment with a certain amount of authority (if you know your topic).
We have many blogs and it does get frustrating sometimes when all the comments appear just to be spam. I look forward to mornings where at least one other blogger has made the effort t write something intelligible on our blogs.

I have found a great way to get backlinks. We offer a product and we have a large number of happy clients. We have managed to ask a few of them for a link to our site which surprisingly a few have been able to do. I think the value of this is these sites don’t have many outgoing links and it is hard for our competitors to get a link on these sites.

getting back links from do follow blog commenting is a great way to increase your site serp ranking for targeted keywords.but when some one target blog commenting to increase their ranking they need to make sure couple of things:first:blog where you commenting must be from a authoritative site(eg:.gov,.edu etc),second:make sure the comment page has less then 40 outbound links(lesser the better),third:also like to point out that from my experience relevancy is irrelevant when it comes to do follow blog commenting,fourth:don’t try to varied the anchor text when posting comments to blogs .so if you choose high pr inner page blog(do follow) site with low out bound links for commenting & if your comment get stick then you will definitely gonna get link juice from that particular site whether it is relevant to your site or not.

I wouldn’t be so sure about nofollow. If you check some blogs, they have good SE positions, high PR and tonns of comments from nofollow blogs – how to explain this? I know, that there are lots of other factors that define PR and SERP but Google also doesn’t have a clear position regarding nofollow.

My own observations also show that most of the older blogs with high PR become nofollow while there are even more new quality blogs with dofollow and KeywordLuv.

Nice advice here, with so many different ways to search engine optimize a business or website it’s sometime hard to know which methods are more effective. I have adopted a number of different techniques and will definitely be adding this to my list. Blog comments not only serve as good back links to a website, if written well they can also inform and generate interest for a business the old fashioned way; through word of mouth.

Thanks for this detailed information of linkbuilding via blog comments. I think that keywords should be added at the appropriate places, so if keywordluv is enabled then it should be OK. If only a name field is available, I can understand blog owners that they don’t like keyword-names. If you want to reply to a comment (even as a commenter yourself) it is easier to address somebody by name than by an anonymous keyword phrase.

I agree. Being able to choose a keyword that is related to the site is much beneficial. Moreover, comments being generated are somewhat wished to be sensible enough other than just creating a back link to the site. Though, this is the one of the main purpose people are actually making remarks, thus increasing the number of directories.

It is getting tougher to get good backlinks these days. Many blogs will delete your comment if you include keywords in your name. I always look to see if the blog allows keywords and if they don’t, I just use Spunky Jones or Spunky Jones SEO.

I never just seek do-follow links because it would look unnatural to the search engines if all of my links were do-follows. I figure a no-follow link will bring me some targeted traffic if I have a nice related anchor text link.

These days, I go after backlinks that are closely related to my sites niche and from sites that are established. If they rank well for their keywords in the search engines, I figure the search engine like the site. So, I figure that the search engines are more likely to trust my link.

I’d never really considered that there are lists being compiled of people who leave spam comments in blogs. That must be tough on people who don’t use proper grammar, and likely the text messaging addicts who tend to speak in small blips. I dont understand your logic behind starting a blog and no follow. I hope you are worried about promoting the blog. No follows are just for the SERPs and the link juice still flows. Hope you got a chance to read Danny Sullivan’s interview with Matt Cutts in the month of June 2009. If you dont want a link on a particular page just type the exact web address with no hyperlink. That way your pages link juice is not sculpted. If you have a no follow and according the matt the link juice is considered to be evaporating. Dont worry about promoting your blog. Content is important,even the king but without any traffic your website content is useless,you need good search engine rankings if you want traffic and you need good quality backlinks if you want a good position in search engines,indeed link building is a never ending process.

I was thinking about a membership blog filter myself, so maybe this could be one of the next enhancements when I have spare time…
There will be no autofill option, as this encourages spamming. I want people to thinkabout what they are commenting and not submit prefilled general content.

So many links so little time! LOL I have used fast Blog finder but have found its not all that reliable. Brings back the results, so go to the site its a no follow link. I am guess they have a database, which is not always 100% up to date.

Someone needs to create a Course that eaches link building specifically for teaching outsourcers!

In easy words you can look at each backlink as a recommendation for your site, google just counts how many recommendations you have to determine where you should rank.
The anchor text of the backlink tell google what the recommendation is about. If someone sets a nofollow link, then this is not a recommendation, it just tells the others “hey I know about this site” It does not hurt your site, but it does not help you rank either.

Normally I would just have deleted your comment as you did not play by the rules – there is a clear statement that I don’t accept Comment without names any longer!
I make an exceptions because your question is of interest for everyone.
For link building purposes those nofollow links do not help for improving your rankings.
Nevertheless they are good for two things: They can bring you lots of traffic, if you contribute a valuable comment on a blog with many readers, because people will click on your link.
Secondly, it is part of a natural linking pattern that there are nofollow links to a page too, see http://www.seo-traffic-guide.de/2009/08/22/the-importance-of-anchor-text-variety/

Hi Larry
SEO for Firefox gives you a grey Logo on the lower right corner of your browser. if you click on it (you see it in colors then) it is switched on. from now on all nofollow links on any page are highlighted in red, until you click again on the logo and switch it off(and reload the page…)
