To be honest, I always just went after dofollow blogs. I didn’t think it was really important to have nofollow links other than getting traffic from clicking on your link. I suppose I’ll have to start doing that too. Thanks to Charleen for asking.

Most bloggers and blog readers dislike keywords in the name field instead of a name. The reason commentators do that is because without KeywordLuv whatever is in the Name field is what is used as anchor text – and that is NOT effective. Installing KeywordLuv fixes that issue by allowing commentators to separate their name from the keywords.

That is exactly what I point out quite often. It is vital to keep a natural linking pattern. This includes nofollow links, links with just the URL as anchor and seemingly useless achor texts like “click here”, “can be found here”, “over here”, “at Michael’s website” etc.

Very nice article on the workings of keywordluv.

Although dofollow backlinks are important I also think nofollow backlinks are needed as well to look more natural for the search engines. What’s your thoughts on this?

Yes that is true, quite a few webmasters forget that installing KeywordLuv is not enough and you need to install one of the many dofollow plugins as well. This also is the reason why I kept a dofollow column in the Keywordluv result list, so you can use the autofilter feature to find only Keywordluv blogs that are dofollow…

It is always encouraging to see sites that have installed KeywordLuv plugins. I know many people are concerned about spammers, but if you have an active site moderator who reads comments for context prior to publishing, this overcomes any real disincentive on the part of the site owner for allowing KeyWordLuv.

I think it makes sense to call it “Keyword Luv”… after all, that’s what it’s doing; enabling people to promote their websites/blogs while at the same time leaving meaningful comments (as opposed to being anonymous spammers, boo).

Hey Michael definetly a great explanation of how this plugin “Keyword Luv” works. I was contemplating using the plugin on my blog but was hesitant due to the amount of spam that would probably show up.
I think I should re-think it as I know visitor interaction on your site is important for SEO as well.
ps. I’m hoping Brandon isn’t correct with his theory about Google banding it soon but it wouldn’t be a huge shock if they did. Their famous for throwing wrenches in to the wheels and bringing everything to screaming halt.

I do love KeywordLuv, but I am afraid that Google may outlaw it soon. Considering that Google rankings are hugely about organic backlinks and it is obvious that this plugin was made to help people backlink, Google may not count KeywordLuv comments soon. =/ Just my theory though!

Hmm so according to this article keywordluv is super beneficial, therefore this will be my test run to see if it works. The idea alone is quite interesting, a way for blog owners to share their power with others via backlinking. I would think most wouldn’t be so kind as to use keywordluv, maybe that will change in the near future.

Thanks for your contribution – this search query will surely find lot’s of KeywordLuv blogs and the chances are very high that those will also be DoFollow blogs, but don’t take for granted. Keywordluv does not automatically mean dofollow, in fact the Keywordluv author explicitely states that you should install a dofollow plugin as it is not contained in keywordluv. Unfortunately some people tend to forget that step…

KeywordLuv is very helpful. One suggestion I like to share, If you would like to find dofollow blogs, Type this in Google – Real Estate Enter “YourName@YourKeywords in the Name field to take advantage”. Keep the quotes as it is. Instead of real estate you type the niche for which you would like to find dofollow blogs. And there you go, just post a nice comments.

KeywordLuv is a great plugin for internet marketing to build pagerank. Unfortunately too many people abused it by posting spam comments just to get backlinks with no benefit to blog owners. That is why many blogs nowadays have the nofollow tag turn on, making the backlinks not counted by Google. Comment Luv has been a great way to increase traffic for my San Diego real estate website. I have not had a major problem with people taking advantage of the link opportunities. Instead I find that people are generally willing to make insightful comments that are on-topic. Comment Luv in combination with the Akismet filter works great!

I have been using keywordluv on my site and unfortunately have found that many of the comments really have nothing to do the site and are strictly to get a backlink. In many cases the comments don’t even make sense. Although I am new to keyword luv I do intend to give it some more time.

You are right – as soon as you know which keywords to go after. In my eyes proper analytic is even more important because there is the danger that you waste a lot of effort if you try to go after keywords you will never have a chance to rank for or if you go after keywords that do not have sufficient search volume…

To your other questions: How long does it take until the backlink is in place?
-> This depends on whether the blog is moderated and when if at all the blog owner approves your comment. This can be just a moment if he is online or might take a few days, there is no general rule.
When is it recognized by google?
-> The next time google crawls the page where the comment is on.
As a general rule sites with higher PR tend to be crawled more often. So if you are trying to get backlinks to get a new site indexed, it is a good idea to get links from high PR sites.
It is tempting to believe that only dofollow links from high PR sites are good links, but you should have a look over here to see why this is not true: About link text variety

What does Luv actually stand for? Anybody knows?
As a backlinker newbie, I obviously ask the question how long does it take until the backlink is in place, or in other words, is recognized by Google and Co?

This is quite an intersting concept, but wouldn’t it require a quite active moderation of blog comments? Which can be done for most blogs (there aren’t that many comments usually) but it would hamper discussion a bit wouldn’t it? As you don’t get a quick twoway communication?

The alternative I would assume is to be run down buy spammers, as this is the perfect tool?

Keyword luv and comment luv is really good. The idea is great, although it is abused by many.

And for that reason I think G slightly devalues links from comment luv/keyword luv websites. Does anyone else think that?

Agreed that KeywordLuv and CommentLuv are a good addition to blogs just be aware that they will attract spammers and a lot of them. If you have the time to filter these out as you go then you’ll find the plugins excellent. Many won’t use because them being a spam magnet.

The article is a nice and concise explanation about how the keywordluve works. In my commentator experience, I’m not finding too much spam on blogs using this plugin. I heard that there is an additional device to detect fake comments.

I’m still learning more about these plug ins but is already using keywordluv and it worked well. It certainly did helped increase my traffic. Thanks for the information. Not only does it increase my traffic, it also improved the numbers of sensible comments and page views.

KeywordLuv is great for bloggers and commentators. And they get something in return for commenting and adding an input to the topic. Great way to go!

Didn’t even know about KeywordLuv until today. Since when is that around? Your site is one of the first I see using it.

I have just started to use keywordLuv on my wordpress sites as I have read many reviews mentioning the benefits of this fantastic plugin. I am surprised that some people are hestitant to use it inspite of seeing how it does help the site to get fresh content regularly for your site and a thing that makes Google come back more regularly. Love using keyword luv, its got loads of purposes 1.free content 2.anchor links 3.outbound links all you have to do is tell people to post about the topic and they must post a min of 100 words, google loves any fresh content and these post count as content, 2nd easy one anchor text back to your site but beware they maybe low quailty links 3rd google guide lines state that you should be linking to other sites, give the google what she wants and your be a winner all day long.

Ofcourse you are so generous in sharing this excellent information on keyword luv as well as comment luv. I have been using both this plugins in my blog and as you suggested the ultimate power is in the hands of the blog owner. I do receive lots of comment requests each day and i generally filter out by the content and the quality of the comment. Sometimes I do giveaway a backlink you as well. I still cannot believe that my feed reader doesnt have your websites feed. I am adding it right away and will enjoy continuing your posts.
