What a shame!
Now I run a blog that is all about Do-Follow blogs and how to find Do-Follow blogs and I am not able to remove the Nofollow tag on my own blog!
Thanks to a hint from one of my readers, I finally noticed that the links on my blog were actually nofollow – wordpress’ standard…
What had happened? First I had the suspicion that a new version of the Platinum SEO plugin, which I can highly recommend, superseded the setting from my “Follow URL” plugin… but after some research I found out, that it was just an incompatibility issue with wordpress 2.7. I now use Nofollow Free as the plugin of choice and the problem is solved

As I noticed that spammers don’t care for nofollow, my Fight against spam is done with akismet and that works very well for me.
There was no sophisticated decision process for choosing the plugin, I wanted as little options as possible as I don’t need no fancy anti-spam measure in a dofollow plugin. All I want is that it removes the nofollw tag

To determine whether a link is nofollow or not just use the SEO-Firefox plugin (read here: http://www.seo-traffic-guide.de/welcome/warning-about-the-dofollow-blog-list-accuracy/ )
If you just need a list of dofollow blogs, try the search on the home page

There is a good tool on the seo firefox extension that let’s you see if a link is do follow or not.
Yeah I use that plugin for firefox to it’s called search status, it has an option where it highlights all the no follow links on a page, so if you’re reading a blog and it’s not going off you know its a do follow blog.
Yes it was search status that alerted me that my blog had commentluv and keywordluv but they weren’t working, you also have to install one of the dofollow plugins for the luv to work.

I can also recommend nofollow free by Michele as most of the others are not working for wordpress 2.7. I also find HeadSpace seo plugin truly amazing as I use it on my new incense dofollow blog.

I use SEOfor Firefox and the links are clearly shown as doFollow. The “reply” links are still nofollow and thus red, because they are of no use for SEO

Thanks for all your effort in keeping your blog a do-follow blog. I wish there was more out there that went to the same amount of effort.
I use the same array on my Shoppersmall blog. I agree, keeping the plugin simple makes it much easier to handle; I don’t like the hassle of a dofollow plug that is too complicated.

I am getting over 200 spam comments a day now, luckily the spam filters take care of it but am worried about deleting genuine comments when I hit the delete all spam button. I wish automated spam software could be blocked.

That’s the strange thing Mike, my countryside blog is getting twice the spam as the dating one .. maybe that link has been put somewhere all the spammers go to find dofollow blogs?

My theory is that the spammers have their own search engines for blogs (not even necessarily dofollow blogs) and it might well be be pure coincidence when you appear their radar…
I really enjoy the useful information presented in this blog. Using do follow blogs is a great way to build up your link count.
I believe most think dofollow blogs invite a lot of spam, however i have found quite the opposite. Although I get an occasional spammer, the majority of my visitors offer engaging comments to my site.
i would recommend allowing dofollow links to everyone.
This is the main problem with wordpress plugins. The developer stop doing it just because he/she needs to concentrate in their further studies or not enough donations to support the WP new versions. The best idea is to give an option of dofollow in wordpress main admin panel itself by WP.

i don’t use seo search status plugin i use the nodofollow plugin as it clearly shows whether a link is no or dofollow without any hesitation

The FireFox option looks pretty good. I let my blog have dofollow with a captcha.
I downloaded and installed this “Nofollow Free” from the wordpress site, but cant make it work ?
I deactivated the old “dofollow plugin”, but still doesnt work. Do I have to remove it completely from the server ?

No usually all you have to do is deactivate the old plugin and activate the new one.
You could try to switch the theme to the standard theme for testing as your theme might be incompatible…

Dude your blog is still do follow and people are still posting comments or you may say spamming to get the backlinks from your blog.

You are using wordpress that has an exceptional spam filter there are additional tools you can use for effective spam filter. But if you start valuing the the comments left on the site and just remove the spam it will encourages others to come back and get involved and championing the site

It’s kind of disappointing though when WordPress makes nofollow a default attribute. It seems that many have to buy a WordPress template that has been modified and customized in order to have dofollow.

I think a key decision is whether your blog is going to be do or nofollow. I obviously vote for do. However, I’ve seen an SEO expert selling dofollow information and HER blog was nofollow. Talk about deceitful!

I do not believe the nofollow links are as valueless as they once were. What Google is after is genuine content. The do follow blog commenters are often just after the link. The nofollow commenters are part of a commentary which is what Google I believe will one day realize is important. As I understand it Google did not say they did not give value to no follow links, they said they will not lower the pr of your page because of the nofollow links.

Well, wordpress was always nofollow, that is nothing new in 2.7. The only pity was that my old plugin was not compatible with 2.7. …
There is nothing wrong with wordpress for being nofollow default, however there should be a simple resolve to deactivate.

I’m glad you’ve fixed it. What I didn’t realise is that the KeywordLuv plugin doesn’t come with dofollow enabled. Doesn’t this kind of defy the point of KeywordLuv?
Yes, it kind of does…but the author of the plugin states very clearly that you need a dofollow plugin and I understand his principle, because he does not know which kind of the many dofollow plugins with different functionality the users of keyworLuv would prefer – there are dofollow case by case plugin or plugins that give dofollow only after 3 or 5 good comments, etc. So if he would deliver it with dofollow built in, it would actually take away some of the freedoms a blog owner has…
