Just recently Jen Lopez from SEOmoz met up with Matt Cutts at SES for a short but nevertheless very interesting interview.
Interesting to hear what he has to say about PR, whether to let the PR flow around on your site or to block certain pages and how to use the nofollow tag.

I always love hearing more about PR, especially since there is so much debate about it relating to SEO. Thanks for this short interview, it gave me some information to think about.
I’ve never really thought much about PR sculpting even with all the “gurus” advocating it. After all, the higher the number of indexed pages in your site, the better it is right? So nofollow within your site is just not great of a tactic. Just my two cents.
I don’t think that there is any use of implementing No follow on your website especially about the latest post of matt cutts on Page rank sculpting , you can’t control the link juice according to me. But if you are using no follow to prevent yourself from links to an unreliable source then it is fine
There is so much confusion about the PR, so this interview cleared some of my misconceptions.
Thanks a lot for the information.

Its really been informative, Thanks for tips with good video..
Lol, I liked Matt’s new avatar and his designation @ Google. “Chief Spam Cop”. Finally some quality information on the PR sculpting from the authority of its own.
Listening to Matt is often like listening to Alan Greenspan. You know that he’s said something important, but sometimes it isn’t immediately apparent what exactly it is. But I know that Matt’s crew works hard to make sure that Google is an effective search engine.

Hm, it’s interesting to get some real information regarding nofollow from an actual authority on the subject. I’ve never tried doing PR sculpting, so I’m glad to see that it doesn’t work anyway. I think people rely too much on hearsay, and take it for fact. Everyone was talking about sculpting but no one had any real proof that it works.
It’s great is giving all this information about PR. But sometimes I do wonder if he’s lieing about some stuff.
informative interview on nofollow.

@Alex I don’t think he is lying, unless it is my omission. Interesting video though.

Sometimes I don’t really trust interviews like this. This may be an attempt at “SEO-User Sculpting” to prevent further PR-sculpting whichthe big G obviously dislikes.
I would have thought that using no follow within your website is not a great idea.

Isn’t his designation is the Senior Software Engineer for Google? I think he does handle the spam part too but anyways not sure about his latest designations.
The same he’s talking here like on the other Q & A video I’ve seen from him about using nofollow tags on paid links or on untrusted source. Absolutely no one wants to put their site at risk by applying dofollow tags on it. Especially on paid links because that’ll make Google suspect you of Link Exchanging etc which is banned. So they tell you to use nofollow tag on it.
Good one though.
