An excellent and proven way to get backlinks is to write an article about your topic and publish it at article sites.
Most article sites allow you to put one or two links in the article and/or in your author bio box. Depending on the article site, your article may be picked up by other webmasters looking for content and be published on their websites. If you write good content, your articles might be republished at many other sites which can give you a decent amount of backlinks. If if your article doesn’t get picked up at all, you can still get quite a few backlinks just by submitting to several sites.

Now some article directories require you to write unique content and you may not reuse it on other directories.
Another thing is that logging in to all those sites and submitting your articles manually is time consuming. Lets say you have already written your article (which takes quite some time, too, if you do not outsource it), it will take you about ten minutes per article site.
For a lazy guy like me this meant looking for solutions – and I found some.

Another good place to post your articles is on other blogs, you can do that as a guest author, if the blog will let you or you can use systems like 1waylinks and Neurolinker to place your articles on other blogs.

What is your general view about issues surrounding duplicate content? If articles get syndicated / reproduced on other websites or published on several article websites, some say this can affect google rankings?

It is harder to get ranked for duplicate content because the relevancy of the original site will be higher in general. But it does not affect the rankings of your other pages.

Thank you for the list. But I don’t think submitting same article to multiple article directories we can take advantages of backlinks. Even if our articles get published in other sites also, that will cause duplicate content issue. Google counts backlinks from duplicate content only once.

I don’t agree with you. Google tries to rank only relevant content and that often means duplicate content is not ranked and sometimes even not indexed. But your link is counted as long as the page it is on is indexed. Just have a look at all the newspaper sites that publish content from AP – are they punished for doing so? No – They are just ranked according to their relevancy for the search. And that is the same with all other content, too.

I agree with you as In my blog some times I make simple copy paste from other site (reserving their copyrights)
and these contents get indexed and appear in the search results very near to the original post or even higher in other keywords

I would also like to recommend http://www.ehow.com. With ehow you do have to structure your article differently so it does make it more unique but it can be worth the extra effort.
Also, I would search for article directories for your niche as well. Sometimes they can get more targeted traffic.

In order to get Backlinks, you should put quality content on your website as well as get link with those which have got relevancy with your posted material. The higher the relevancy the higher the chances for getting visitors would increase. You should not overlook the quality of materials and articles that you post. It is necessary to come up with new and fresh information as visitors are hungry for such content. It may take up some time to submit articles and get Backlinks but it is worth doing the task. You can choose to do it manually but there are also some tools which can do get Backlinks for you. However the manual process is the most recommended one.
I have been using Ezinearticles almost exclusively. They are the top of the cream and give nice authority links. In working with EZA however they are quite fussy and will not take just any article. Their quality control has tightened.
Also of note is that you can write an article on most any popular topic and place non-themed links at the bottom. This can open up a larger article universe for you to consider. EZA doesn’t care that the links are dissimilar to the topic of the article.
Does anyone know of any Mac software that will do the same thing as the windows software mentioned in the article?

Hi! I’m read this comment and is so much for learning. 2 years ago i worked with “Ad words” for targeting traffic. But now i am sure about what i need to do. And Article Marketing is great one. I used 1WayLink Network and 3WayLink, but nothing is comparable such as Article Marketing posting at Ezine Articles, Article Directories and Blog Network.
If you are questions about “content duplication”, here is some understanding around. Some Directories and Blogs prefer unique content, and this is because it’s ranging much better for you and for these blogs. Not because is penalized from Google.
Google penalize duplicate content if you are posting 2 identical article at the same directories. Google index only one. And maybe penalize your site if you are receiving so much backlinks what is maked unnaturally. Example: If you are doing these with one identical article tonight at 200 Directories or Blogs, Google maybe penalize this. You are not capable to make this manually. Google penalize if you are doing this with “automation software”. Specially if you are a new website and receive 200 backlinks at once. If you are doing the wrong way, you receive nothing traffic from Google.
But, if you are receive 200 links from unique content posted within one week, you are a change for being these article indexed much better.
Make this correctly and regularly. Take care!
Another Word about Unique Content versus Duplicate Content:
Google penalize you if you are posting the same article at one Blog or Article Directories for 200 times, but if you are publishing the same article at 200 Article Directories or Blog, you are doing the right way.
And, if you are doing these with 200 Unique Content at 200 (Article Directories or Blogs) is much better.

If you are a website with less concurrence you can receive traffic in less one month doing these.
