Warning about the Dofollow blog list accuracy

I put a lot of effort in the search mechanism for this page – nevertheless: be warned, I cannot guarantee that every blog reported as doFollow blog really is a doFollow blog. Searching for Blogs without the nofollow tag sounds easy at first – in reality it is not. Some blogs have all the keywords that trigger the search on the first page, but if you really comment are shown another page, so the check does not work. Other blogs use plugins that allow the blog owner to award doFollow links to only some of their commenters and other blogs simply do not have any comments to check on yet.

Resumee: The lists you can obtain here can be a great help, but do not rely too heavily on them.

The list shows both, nofollow and dofollow blogs, if you only want to see the dofollow blogs, switch the excel auto filter to “yes” in the dofollow column.

A link from a nofollow blog can still bring you significant traffic, if it is a very popular blog and your comment is of high value and relavant to the blog’s topic. It does not help you in terms of ranking, but you should still consider commenting if you can contribute to the discussion – that is what blog comments are all about…

My advice: use Firefox and the SEO for Firefox Extension – it will show you whether links on a page are DoFollow or NoFollow.

If you are looking for a plugin for wordpress to make your own blog Do-Follow have a try at this:

Nofollow Free

I just don’t understand why google would need to do that. really, is there any point? I have read elsewhere that it still passes PR juice around? Anybody have an answer?

  2. Johannes from Lustige Videos (1 comments)

You can also use Google to find do-follow blogs manually! It needs much more time but you can find a lot of blogs without the no-follow attribute. Thank you anyway for the search mechanism, I will try it at least.

If a blog says no no follow stop spam not blogs…. that is a do follow blog isn’t it?

  4. Michael Busch (325 comments)

    Hi DreamYacht

That is a blog that claims to be do-follow. Whether it really is can only be determined by parsing the HTML source code of a page with comments. If it really lacks the nofollow tag, then it is do-follow. As there are plugins that allow the admin to grant dofollow links on a per user or case by case base, this is a very difficult thing to do automatically. ut you are right, a statement as the one you mentioned or the “U comment, I follow”-Badge is a very strong sign…

I like this great tool.I found a lot of do follow blogs to work on from this search tool.Thanks.

  6. Free Wii (3 comments)

I do actually use this tool, and it’s pretty good! It has let me know which blogs are no-follow etc, and whether to bother to comment on the blog or not! But even saying that, Yahoo is still a massively used search engine, and they count all links :)

  7. Michael Busch (325 comments)

    @free Wii

Good point with yahoo…That is why my list contains both nofollow and dofollow and you can sort it like you want…

  8. mario viacasa.it (2 comments)

just used your search for dofollow real estate blogs….tested the 1st 6 x PR5 and 1st 10 x PR 4………..could find NO dofollows!!! therefore I would say this does NOT work…also what the difference in the excel search results is DoFollow colums you have 1 and 0 what does this indicate?

    1. Michael Busch (325 comments)

      Hi Mario
the 0s and 1s do the trick – if you set the autofilter to 1 only dofollow blogs are shown, some people don’t care for dofollow or nowfollow, as you can direct traffic from nofollow blogs, too, so I created the possibility to have both.
I am fully aware that even if you set the filter to 1 and should be presented do-follow blogs only, there are still some erroneously found nofollow blogs in the dofollow list sometimes…that is why I wrote the accuracy warning…

Thanks for highlighting about checking a blogs current dofollow status. I’ve gone back to check some of moy posts on other blogs that I thought were dofollow and it turns out they’re not. The firefox addon will make things much easier in the future. Thanks again.

Hey there, your tool is great for finding do follow. it was really useful and thanks for sharing!

    Regards,

99% of blogs listed as dofollow on various lists on sites are nofollow. Some will even use logos claiming to be dofollow when they’re not.

  13. John from Prostate Cancer (1 comments)

I agree with you that SEO for Firefox addon is very good. I have and use it very often to determine the blogs that are dofollow and those that are nofollow and noindex. Thanks for sharing this. It will surely help lots of people find and benefit from dofollow blogs.

  14. rob from brighton art (1 comments)

am i to assume that the commentluv and keywordluv blogs that are listed separatley are all dofollow?

    1. Michael Busch (325 comments)

      Hi Rob

Unfortunaltly – no. Not everybody who implements these plugins has really understood the necessity for making them dofollow, too. So you cannot rely on on that. My list shows the dofollow status separately.

Thank you for the tool. As I understand for Yahoo no follow links is also good. Is that right?

    1. Michael Busch (325 comments)

At least yahoo shows nofollow links via their link:command. It is hard to say how much effect those link have for ranking, but it is very probable that yahoo is less strict than google.

  16. Thanks for this gr8 tool. I always comment on dofollow blogs and now i can verify blogs are dofollow or not with using this tool.:)

  17. almir (47 comments)

thanks for providing this post because i was a little skeptical on the fact if it was dofollow or not but im glad you confirmed it thanks

  18. al bojkovic (6 comments)

i checked through the blog search engine and so far i haven’t come across any no follow websites strictly do follow websites which is great thanks for the info it was very helpful

  19. I am noticing that lots of blogs that were formally DOfollow are now NOfollow. I wonder why. It’s such a pain spending time to write good comments on blogs, only to find they are no longer dofollow.

  20. LPN Jobs (1 comments)

I too have noticed that a lot of previously advertised do-follow blogs are now no-follow. One way to get around this is to get hold of the SEO toolbar for Firefox. When switched on this highlights no-follow links in red. Saves a lot of time.

  21. There are a lot of great plugins for dofollow-ing your wordpress blogs! It’s true that the whole ‘nofollow’ tag doesn’t stop, slow down, or thwart spammers (who use automated spambots anyway) by a noticeable measurement to begin with. As long as you have a good spam catcher, that’s all you need.

  22. Firefox SEO tool bar is a great way of truly identifying genuine dofollows. Such a shame that when people are trying to get link juice they can´t even be bothered to contribute something of value.

  23. RVs For Sale (1 comments)

Wow…thanks for this gr8 tool i was looking like that now to helping this tool i can search blogs which are dofollow.

  24. John from ENT Doctor (7 comments)

In fact many of the blogs that are recommended online are nofollow. I think it’s better to find yourself.

I have tried using Comment Kahuna to filter out do not follow blogs but it just doesnt seem to work. Have others had this problem? Maybe I am doing something wrong.

  26. ForexBrokers (9 comments)

Right! I’ve heard that websites flip back and forth between nofollow and dofollow all the time – roughly 1/3 of any list is useless (at a minimum). The plugin works like magic – it is like looking at a website with ’special x-ray vision glasses’. Anyone looking to increase backlinks is crazy if they are not using it.

  27. Website Design London (1 comments)

I agree with the commentor, many people who take advantage of commenting on blogs, actually never have anything good to say.

Except for things like “nice blog dude”, I mean come-on say something productive instead!

  28. Thats a great tip. Thank you. I have downloaded that and can now do in 30 mins what took me 2 hours before.

  29. Thanks for the list. At least some on the list are dofollow and you voluntary did it for us your readers.

  30. JS Peters (1 comments)

Most of the blogs that I search for with dofollow end up being nofollow after you post a comment, its getting increasingly frustrating… I have had more luck finding them myself

    Hi,
I have tried using Comment Kahuna to filter out do not follow blogs but it just doesn’t seem to work. Can you give me some solution for this.
This is also the problem with one of the commentator.
    Thanks.

One of the more outstanding ideas someone has come up with – really in my eyes, when you have visitors writing well thought, and knowledgeable responses to articles, they too deserve some credibility – thanks!

  35. Jay from Modified Bimmer (1 comments)

I agree looking for dofollow links takes a lot of time and effort.

  36. Insurance Leads (1 comments)

I have several blogs and all of them are dofollow. I downloaded a free plugin for wordpress and have never had any problems with it.
The whole motivation was to get more traffic to my blogs.
But how does one make the tradeoff between the additional traffic generated and the seo juice lost from the blog to the external links?

    1. Michael Busch (325 comments)

      Hi

Yeah, I know what you mean … I guess you just have to choose which comments to keep and which to delete – just ask yourself: Is this really a useful contribution to the discussion on my site or not…
I could be more strict here on my own site, but I want to give people the chance to get a free link so … if it is not just “Thank you! Wonderful…” I approve the comments most of the time.

  37. Free Wii (3 comments)

Any tool that can help navigate the nofollow/dofollow mess is good. Though from what I have been hearing, nofollow doesn’t matter anymore on Google. If that’s that case, great. A link should be a link.

    1. Michael Busch (325 comments)

      Hi Lenny

I think I know what you refer to, but it seems you have got it only almost right ;-)
Nofollow is still used by google, the only thing that has changed is the passing of pagerank if you use nofollow and dofollow links on your site for page rank sculpting.

I forgot your site lol, I mean had to remove my bookmarks for some reasons so it was in it. Gladly found it, I’ve benefited a lot from your blogs list. So a BIG THANK YOU, I enjoy your list and have found great blogs from it.

    1. Michael Busch (325 comments)

Thank you Alan – you are welcome!

  41. Johan Karlsson from Billigt Boende (1 comments)

My blog is also dofollow and I think its the way Internet should work. Ofcourse spam will always be an issue but putting nofollow doesnt remove spam. What helped me against spam was a good capcha tool and manual review of new comments. After that no spam slips in anymore.

  42. Ricky (2 comments)

Thank you. I’ve used that tool in my blog, my blog is a do-follow. So, just drop there and post some useful comments. Thanks!

  43. Alex from buy backlinks here (1 comments)

I search for keyword luv blogs. Almost all of them are dofollow. They’re great.

  44. Matt from liderazgo (1 comments)

I actually use this tool too, and it’s pretty useul thanks for posting…

  45. Kai from My Ex Girlfriend (3 comments)

I know a lot of people eventually will turn off nofollow policy because too many people are spamming.

It is better to write guest posts because the article will most likely be impressive other wise you wouldn’t write for the person. Also, that will give you a permanent dofollow link as long as the site exists.

    1. Michael Busch (325 comments)

Guest writing is an excellnt way to get backlinks – it only has the backdraw compared to dofollow commenting that it takes a lot more time and it is harder to find blogs who will publish your article…

Is there an equivalent tool for Blogger?

  47. Oliver from Free iPad (2 comments)

I wish google were more like Yahoo, but then it may be easier to get ranked in Google, which would be really hard for competitiveness. But that’s all good!

  48. Alli (1 comments)

its like a headache to see each n every link if its dofollow or nofollow
now its easier with this FF plugin u shared

but making our blog dofollow will flush spam comments a lot … wont it ?

    1. Michael Busch (325 comments)

Spam usually comes from bots who don’t care about dofollow or nofollow – I did not notice a significant increase of spam

  49. George Packard (10 comments)

I have found it to be quite the opposite.

Initially of course I was concerned about spam.

On occasion I do get spammers, however MOST comments are in fact geared towards the post topic and offer something to my readers.
