While Jon points to sites where you can submit your page or post to a whole bunch of social bookmarking sites, there is one easy step you can do on you page that will helb you boost getting social bookmarks. And that is offer the logos of a few well known bookmarking sites at the end of all your articles and pages. If you are running a wordpress blog then this is really very easy! There is a wordpress plugin that can do all the work for you. It is called “Sociable” and was written by Joost de Valk. He is a smart guy from the Netherlands who runs a very good SEO site and has build quite a few really useful wordpress plugins.
Just install Sociable and go to Settings page of the plugin. Here you can choose from a lot of social bookmarking sites and change their order of appearance.
Now all your visitors have a really easy way for bookmarking your site.

It does not depend so much on which social bookmarking service you are you using, the big ones are all often enough spidered by google…del.icio.us is very well known and I guess it is a very good service. Digg is another great choice… you migh be interested in the beta test of automarker.net…

This is a very useful tip, seems like you can get quality links quicker this way then reading articles and commenting for them.
I started using sociable a couple of weeks ago and I have seen some good success with it. People like sharing good info with others and it gives them an easy way to do so with it being invasive. Hats off to Joost de Valk.

Thats really good way of making your site/posts to be bookmarked. Sometimes user’s want to but leave in between by getting bore or finding it difficult – if 3-4 steps long.

That depends on the social bookmarking services that you choose to include in the sociable backend – there are both services that give dofollow links and there are services that give nofollow links…

Thank you. THis is going to be a great help in increasing my traffic. But can nofollow social bookmarking sites help me increase my PR? because there are other sites that still post on nofollow sb sites.

Although many SB sites may have NO FOLLOW links, you can find some that allow you to post URLs in your “Public Profile” page. It’s kind of hit and miss, so you’ll have to search for the ones that do.
As far as plugins go, “Social” is pretty good. I’m also amazed (not to surprised though) that many Twitter plugins have popped up in just a few short months!
